			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-704" style="margin: 7px;" title="Volcano" src="http://www.saucerdiaspora.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Volcano.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="100" />October 9<sup>th </sup>was the last time we saw appreciable rain in the Houston area.  That&#8217;s just enough time for all of the dormant floodwater mosquito eggs to hatch, grow, and become the adult bloodsuckers we all hate by, oh, right about now.  The good news:  floodwater skeeters don&#8217;t carry the nasty human-affecting diseases like West Nile and Viral Encephalitis. The bad news:  since they&#8217;re a (relatively) benign nuisance, the <a href="http://www.chron.com/news/article/Mosquitoes-swarm-but-relief-is-on-the-way-2232913.php">City doesn&#8217;t spend your tax dollars on spraying for them</a>.  They&#8217;ll be around through at least the end of the week, depending on whether we get a decent cold snap or not.</p>
<p>So, for now, even though the weather is otherwise temperate, let&#8217;s enjoy our libations inside, at Under the Volcano, <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?q=under+the+volcano+houston&amp;hl=en">2349 Bissonnet Street at Morningside</a>.  UtV is a great place for beers, tiki drinks, and a jukebox with a diverse selection of actual CDs, all of which can be enjoyed under a palapa roof and inside closed or screened windows. See you there at 8 PM.</p>
