Monday 23 May 2011: Prepping for Towel Day at The Hobbit Cafe

Martin Freeman has been tapped to play Bilbo Baggins in the upcoming movie adaptation of The Hobbit.  This brings together three beloved works of geekdom, as Freeman also plays John Watson, M.D., in the BBC’s modern version of the Sherlock story, and he played Arthur Dent in the (somewhat regrettable) movie version of THHGTTG.

Wednesday (25 May) is Towel Day, so come along to celebrate this “elementary” convergence at the Hobbit Cafe, 2243 Richmond Avenue.  Even though there will be no Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters on offer, all the froods will be there.  See you at 8 PM.

Well, the Oscars are over and there are a few friends of Middle Earth who should be pretty happy right about now.  Celebrate (or not) and at least have a nice pint of brew and possibly something to nosh on at The Hobbit Cafe, 2243 Richmond Avenue. See you there around 8 PM.

Wish your buddies from Middle Earth a happy new year, as Afteryule is the first month in the Shire Calendar.  Come join the fellowship at 8 PM tonight at 2243 Richmond Avenue, home of possibly the Houston Parking Lot of the Year (2010, Gregorian Calendar).  Additionally, a nice small rotating tap list is complemented by a good bottle selection and great food.

Autumn has begun here in the Bayou City, and with it comes temperate weather for outdoor beer drinking.  Join us at the Hobbit Cafe, 2243 Richmond Avenue, at 8 PM.  And although we plan to sit outside on the deck, keep your hairy hobbit feet covered up.  It’s still no shirts, no shoes, no shire.
