Monday, 9 January 2012: No Naval Gazing at Liberty Station

Posted by mike | Meetings | Posted on January 9th, 2012

So, just in case you were confused, we’re in Houston, not Sandy Eggo.  So, when we say “meet at Liberty Station at 8 PM tonight,” we’re not recommending that you hop a plane and meet us here.  We won’t be there. Join us at Liberty Station2101 Washington Ave, at 8 PM tonight.  Their tap list has great variety for its size, and if you’re hungry, there’s probably a food truck outside (you are free to brown bag it as well).

Moon Tower on the Horizon: A(nother) New Brewpub

flickr image courtesy Chiolachic http://www.flickr.com/photos/chio/We still think it was nuts to close Moon Tower Inn just when the Houston weather was most conducive to outdoor dining.  We could have given them plenty of ideas on how to keep serving up the sausage during the build out.  However, we were pretty excited when we heard about their plans to open a brewery as a part of the new, improved, MTI; even more so when we heard who will be manning the mash tuns. Lushtastic has the details.  Now if they would just be open Monday nights!

2 January 2012: Start the year off right at El Gran Malo

Posted by john | Meetings | Posted on January 2nd, 2012

Whether or not you might have (ahem) over-indulged this weekend, come out for a little pelos del perro tonight at El Gran Malo, at 2307 Ella Blvd. If you want to sample EGM’s great tacos, or you want to catch happy hour before it’s over, come by at 7 PM; if you’re just interested in the infused tequilas and good (albeit short) beer list, and don’t care about the cost, stop by at 8 PM.  Either way, enjoy yourself responsibly, as Señor Luchador is watching.

Monday 26 December 2011: Boxing Day Drinks at Down House

Posted by mike | Meetings | Posted on December 26th, 2011

Boxing Day is a bit of a mystery to most Americans.  What does the day after Christmas have to do with the squared circle and the Queensbury Rules, after all?  With all of that great food yesterday, most of us are still too full to strap on the gloves.  No floating like a butterfly here.  Strange habits these British have, what.

In any event, come out and celebrate or just have a libation at Down House, 1801 Yale St., at 8  PM.

Monday, 19 December 2011: Dodging Raindrops at the Petrol Station

Most Bitter Bar in AmericaIt’s supposed to rain tonight, so leave yourself plenty of extra drive time.  Come out to the Petrol Station, nonetheless, to take advantage of their ‘pint and a burger’ Monday night special, or maybe some rosemary feta french fries and a pint.  Or just a pint.  See you at 985 Wakefield, in antediluvian Garden Oaks, at 8 PM.
