Boxing Day is a bit of a mystery to most Americans.  What does the day after Christmas have to do with the squared circle and the Queensbury Rules, after all?  With all of that great food yesterday, most of us are still too full to strap on the gloves.  No floating like a butterfly here.  Strange habits these British have, what.

In any event, come out and celebrate or just have a libation at Down House, 1801 Yale St., at 8  PM.

Monday, 19 December 2011: Dodging Raindrops at the Petrol Station

It’s supposed to rain tonight, so leave yourself plenty of extra drive time.  Come out to the Petrol Station, nonetheless, to take advantage of their ‘pint and a burger’ Monday night special, or maybe some rosemary feta french fries and a pint.  Or just a pint.  See you at 985 Wakefield, in antediluvian Garden Oaks, at 8 PM.

Tonight we will be at Under the Volcano, 2349 Bissonnet Street at Morningside.  UtV is a great place for beers, tiki drinks, and a jukebox with a diverse selection of actual CDs, all of which can be enjoyed under a palapa roof and inside closed or screened windows. See you there at 8 PM.

Don’t let the overcast and gloomy day dampen your spirits this Monday. Join us at Liberty Station, 2101 Washington Ave, at 8 PM tonight.  Their tap list has great variety for its size, and if you’re hungry, there’s probably a suitably locavore food truck outside (you are free to brown bag it as well).
